Meet Our Team: Steve Wright

Help us welcome one of our newest board members, Steve Wright!

What is your day job?

I work as an IT Project Manager for Olmsted County. This is a really diverse role that sees me involved in so many of the different services provided by the County – anything from the Waste to Energy Plant to Parks to Elections to technology that is used across the whole organization.

When did you join the board?

September 2021

Why did you join the board?

I have the pleasure of working with Kristina, the founder of Red Drop Resources at Olmsted County, which is how I became aware of the organization. There is a history of leukemia in my family, which makes Red Drop Resources mission a cause that is very close to my heart. I had been looking for a volunteer opportunity for a while, so this just felt like a great fit!

If you could say one thing to patients battling blood cancers in Rochester, what would it be?

I think you genuinely couldn’t be in a better place. Rochester has world class healthcare, and an infrastructure designed to help people needing care. Plus of course Red Drop Resources is there to help fill in the gaps!

What are your favorite free-time activities?

I’m a member and coach at one of our local gyms (Farrells eXtreme Bodyshaping), so I like keeping active! I have three rabbits that are tons of fun, and generally work on projects at home.

What is your favorite quote?

People that do something find a way, others find an excuse.

Anything else you would like to share?

I’m from the UK, and have been in the US since December 2013.  I have traveled a little bit within the UK and Europe, and genuinely think Minnesota is one of the best places in the world! The weather can be tricky, but it’s the people that make it such a special place.

Feel free to say “hi” in the comments and ask any other questions you may have for Steve! We are so excited to have him on our Board of Directors!
